Hogan Leatherwood is a co-founder of the firm and an experienced trial lawyer who represents individuals and families whose lives have been changed by catastrophic injuries and wrongful death. He handles cases involving motor vehicle accidents, 18-wheeler collisions, industrial and workplace incidents, oilfield incidents, offshore and maritime accidents, defective products, toxic exposure, and funeral home negligence. Hogan prepares each case carefully and is ready to try it to a jury when corporations and insurance companies refuse to accept responsibility.
Experience with serious and complex injuries
Hogan has represented injury victims in matters across the country. His experience includes claims involving traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, severe burns, mesothelioma, and other life-altering conditions. He understands how medical treatment, lost income, and uncertainty can affect an entire family. He listens closely, explains the legal process in straightforward terms, and develops a strategy suited to the facts and the client’s goals.
Preparation comes first
To Hogan, effective advocacy begins with disciplined preparation. He works to understand how an incident occurred and who is responsible, to develop the medical and financial evidence, and to put the case in a position to be presented to a jury. Whether he is negotiating with an insurer or litigating against a large corporation, he remains focused on accountability and the needs of the people he represents.
Texas roots and legal education
Raised in Tyler, Texas, Hogan earned a Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University. He later moved to Houston and attended South Texas College of Law, where his interest in representing injured people took shape.
Building a Houston practice
Before co-founding the firm, Hogan built a personal injury practice rooted in Houston. His work has taken him to matters in Texas, Louisiana, and many other jurisdictions across the country. That experience includes cases connected to the ports, refineries, chemical plants, offshore operations, and oilfields that are central to Houston and the Gulf Coast. He is a member of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and the State Bar of Texas.
Co-founding Leatherwood & Schindler
Hogan and Claire Schindler co-founded Leatherwood & Schindler around a shared commitment to quality over quantity. Hogan believes every client deserves direct access to their attorney, honest communication, and a legal team that is fully invested in the case. The firm intentionally provides personal attention and thorough preparation rather than treating an injury claim as one file among hundreds. Its lawyers represent people and families in serious-injury and wrongful-death matters.
What representation means
For Hogan, representing injured people means helping them understand what comes next and giving them a strong voice against powerful defendants. He is committed to achieving the best results for his clients while providing the clear guidance and steady support they need throughout the process. He approaches that responsibility with the same preparation and determination he brings to the courtroom.
